A content management system, or CMS, is simply how you change the words and images on your own site without coming back to us every time. We build on Sanity because it makes that part feel calm and obvious.
Editing feels like writing a document
Most page builders ask you to wrestle with the layout while you are just trying to fix a sentence. You drag boxes around, nudge spacing, and hope nothing breaks. Sanity takes the opposite approach. We set it up around how your site is actually structured, so each page becomes a tidy set of fields you fill in.
That means changing your opening hours, swapping a photo, or rewording a service is closer to editing a document than to building a web page. You see clear labels, you type, you save. The design stays where it belongs.
Changing a page should feel like writing a document, not wrestling a website.
Content stays separate from design
Behind the scenes, Sanity keeps your words and images in one place and the look of the site in another. Your front end is built in Astro, which is what keeps the site fast and light for visitors. Because the content lives apart from that, you can change it freely without ever touching the code that makes the site quick.
- You edit text and images in a clean, simple interface.
- The fast Astro front end stays fast, because design and content are kept apart.
- No clunky page builder, and no lock in to a system that fights you.
If you would like the longer version of why we chose Astro for the part visitors actually see, that is its own story over on why we use Astro.
Edit it yourself, or leave it to us
Some owners enjoy keeping their own site current, and Sanity makes that genuinely pleasant. Others would rather never log in, and that is completely fine too. You can hand changes to us and we simply make them for you. Both ways work, and you are not locked into either one.
If you are weighing this up for your own site, the easiest thing is to talk it through. Tell us how hands on you want to be and we will show you what editing in Sanity actually looks like. You can start a conversation here whenever you are ready.
